The atmosphere is heavy with nostalgia and melancholy. The backdrop of Yarny & Co’s adventure centers on two young boys alternately having fun and fending off… mysterious villains of some kind. It’s not exactly clear what they are; I get vibes of… bullies maybe… abusive father figures… or maybe zombies?

While I am eager to see what becomes of these boys, from a gameplay perspective, it’s a little frustrating to have Yarny’s journey completely independent of theirs. The player is not able to influence their story at all, and the game’s puzzles seem to simply be the fee we pay to see the next of their cutscenes.

That maybe sounds more harsh than it is; the puzzles are quite satisfying, and the physics action feels responsive and extremely kinetic. I would recommend this game especially to those who spent an excessive amount of time on the Ninja Rope in the Worms games.
